2024 Qur'anic recitation competition ends in Adamawa State with a call for unity among Nigerians

The Adamawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting peace-building initiatives for development and harmonious coexistence throughout the state.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri made this statement during the closing ceremony of the Qur'anic Recitation competition, which took place at the Hamma Batta Palace in the Demsa Local Government Area.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Yayaji Mijinyawa, Governor Fintiri emphasized that his administration will work tirelessly with stakeholders to ensure the state remains united and developed peacefully.

He praised Hamma Batta Gladstone Alhamdu Teneke for hosting the Qur'anic Recitation competition and encouraged other traditional rulers to emulate his example in fostering unity and stability among both Muslims and non-Muslims within the state and beyond.

The Governor expressed gratitude to the organizers of the competition, hoping that it would enhance Qur'anic knowledge among the Muslim community.

In his welcome address, Alhaji Aliyu Ismaila Numan, the chairman of the Qur'anic Recitation Committee, extended deep gratitude to Hamma Batta Alhamdu Teneke for graciously hosting the competition. 

He acknowledged the traditional ruler’s unwavering support and commitment, which have served as a source of strength and inspiration. 

Fintiri also thanked the members of the various committees for their tireless efforts behind the scenes, which were crucial in bringing this event to fruition.

Hamma Batta Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke remarked that the competition was more than just a showcase of Qur'anic recitation skills; it also provided a vital opportunity to inspire young minds with the values of faith, discipline, tolerance, and understanding—qualities that are especially important in today's complex social and political landscape.

He emphasized that the teachings of the Holy Quran call for upholding justice, embracing unity, and building bridges across diverse communities.

Expressing pride in Demsa hosting this year's event, Hamma Batta noted that it highlights not only the importance of spreading Qur'anic knowledge but also the commitment of the community and its leaders to foster a more harmonious and spiritually grounded society. 

He thanked all those who contributed to the planning and funding of the competition, stating that their efforts are essential in shaping a generation rooted in Qur'anic principles and capable of making positive contributions to the state's and nation's development.

During his speech, Alhaji Gambo Jika, Chairman of the Adamawa State Muslim Council, encouraged participants to maintain their knowledge and continue seeking both Islamic and Western education for their improvement.

In their goodwill messages, notable figures including former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Ishayaku Abbo, and Abdullahi Bala Lau, the National Chairman of Izalatul Bid'a wa Ikkamatun Sunnah, commended Hamma Batta for his efforts in hosting the Qur'anic Recitation competition. 

They called for unity among Muslims and non-Muslims to promote peaceful coexistence in the state and the nation as a whole.
