TSANGAYA TEACHERS PLEDGE TO REVIVE ISLAMIC EDUCATION IN ADAMAWA.

The Association of Tsangaya Teachers in Adamawa State has pledged to transform Tsangaya education and reposition Almajiri schools to compete with other learning institutions across the state. The newly elected Chairman of the Association, Mallam Abdullahi Idris, made the pledge while addressing journalists in Yola. According to Idris, the association is entering a new era of leadership that is focused on strengthening the structure and quality of Tsangaya education in all parts of the state. "The association was not effectively managed in the past, but the current executives are determined to restore the reputation and dignity of Tsangaya schools." By Bamanga Abdullahi Gombi Muslims across Nigeria have been called upon to pay greater attention in to the Hijrah (Islamic) calendar, as a scholar describes it as essential to preserving acts of worship, Islamic identity, and the unity of the Ummah. The Chief Imam of Mopol 14, Mbamba Jumma'at Mosque, Bashir Thahir. made this known in an interview with Radio NIgeria on Friday, following his weekly sermon. According to Imam Thahir, the Islamic calendar, consisting of 12 months, is 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar because each month spans either 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of the moon. He explained that the calendar was introduced during the era of Caliph Umar Ibn Khattab, with its starting point being the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from Makkah to Madinah, underscoring the significance of timekeeping in Islam. THOUSANDS OF RURAL VOTERS IN ADAMAWA AT RISK OF MISSING 2027 ELECTIONS

Thousands of eligible voters in rural communities across Adamawa State risk missing the 2027 general elections due to poor awareness of Permanent Voter Card PVC registration and collection. A Radio Nigeria survey found that inadequate awareness and limited access to registration and collection centres have hindered many eligible voters from obtaining their PVCs. Radio Nigeria Correspondent, Bamanga Abdullahi, reports. A 30-year-old resident of Koda Village in Girei Local Government Area, Abubakar Maigari, expressed concern over the difficulty of accessing PVCs in his community.  He said that although he registered previously, he has been unable to collect his card due to a lack of clear information. Mr. Maigari said the absence of a PVC collection centre in Koda Village forces residents to travel to Girei town, with the high cost of transportation preventing many from collecting their cards. UNICEF call Government and partners to tackle issue of insecurity and climate change, challenges across Nigeria.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)  has identified rapid population growth, insecurity, climate-related challenges and economic pressures are among the major issues threatening the well-being and future of children in Nigeria. The Chief of UNICEF Kano Field Office, Shafeeq Ur-Rehman, stated this at the Kano Field Office consultation on the development of the Federal Government of Nigeria/UNICEF Country Programme Document (CPD) 2028–2032. The Chief of field office called on governments and development partners to adopt a multisectoral approach to tackling interconnected challenges, stressing that sustainable progress for children could only be achieved through coordinated interventions.
