The Acting Executive Secretary of the Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), Yola, Mr. Birsan Penuel, has expressed profound appreciation for the unwavering support and visionary leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, stating that the education sector in Adamawa State has experienced a "new dawn" under his administration.
Speaking during an event organized by the Nigerian School Sports Education (Yola Zone), Mr. Penuel commended the governor’s consistent investment in education through infrastructure development, recruitment of qualified teachers, approval of long-overdue promotions, and bold policy reforms. He noted that these initiatives have laid a strong foundation for sustainable educational development in the state
Reflecting on his first year in office as Acting Executive Secretary of the PPSMB, Mr. Penuel said, “Since I assumed office, we have prioritized promoting quality education across all secondary schools in the 21 local government areas of the state.”
He thanked the Nigerian School Sports Education Yola Zone for organizing the event, which he described as a recognition of the collective effort of the entire education team in the state. “This is not just a celebration of one individual, but a celebration of teamwork and shared commitment to excellence,” he added.
Highlighting some of the achievements recorded under his leadership, Mr. Penuel pointed to successful staff verification exercises, improved school supervision, strict discipline enforcement, enhanced monitoring strategies, and active engagement with stakeholders including principals and teachers.
However, he acknowledged that challenges persist. “We are still grappling with insufficient sporting facilities, inadequate number of teachers especially in rural areas, and funding constraints,” he said. He expressed optimism that Governor Fintiri’s recent pronouncement on teacher recruitment would soon address the shortage of manpower in the sector.
On behalf of teachers across the state, Mr. Penuel also extended gratitude to the governor for recently approving the promotion of teachers, describing it as a clear testament to the governor’s recognition of their hard work and dedication. He urged educators to reciprocate the gesture by redoubling their efforts and upholding high professional standards.
The event was marked by the presentation of awards to notable stakeholders in the education sector, including Mr. Birsan Penuel himself, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Adamawa State Chapter, Comrade Muhammed Faisal, among others.
