The Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Umar Garba-Pella, has reaffirmed the Adamawa State government's unwavering commitment to making education the foundation of collective progress and prosperity. Speaking at the Education in Emergencies Working Group’s Annual Review Dinner, held at the Nurses House in Yola, Dr. Pella emphasized the importance of the newly launched state education policy.
In his address, the Commissioner highlighted that the policy launch serves as a testament to the administration’s resolve to leave no child behind, irrespective of their background, in the pursuit of academic excellence. "This policy is not just a document; it is a reflection of our dedication to ensuring every child has access to quality education," he stated.
Dr. Pella noted that the development of the education policy was a collaborative effort facilitated by the Education in Emergencies Working Group. "We brought in partners to support the process, appointed a consultant to conduct a study, and engaged key stakeholders in the education sector through an expanded meeting to interrogate and validate the draft document," he explained.
During the event, Abubakar Muazu, Executive Director of the Center for Advocacy Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI), pledged to support the state in implementing the policy. "This initiative is a step in the right direction, and we will stand by the state to ensure its success," he promised.
Representatives from UNICEF, the Malala Fund, and USAID also commended the Adamawa State government for its proactive approach. They hailed the education policy as a significant milestone and pledged continued support to improve access to quality education in the state.
The Adamawa Education Annual Review Dinner provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on progress made and strategize for the year ahead, with the education policy standing as a centerpiece of discussions.
