The Adamawa State Government, in collaboration with the State Ministry of Agriculture, has organized an induction training for 249 newly recruited agricultural officers as part of efforts to boost agricultural activities and ensure food security in the state.
Speaking during the induction training held in Yola, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Heidi Edgar Sunday, disclosed that 141 officers were recruited into the core ministry, 95 into the Adamawa State Agricultural Development Programme (ADADP), and 13 into the Adamawa Agricultural Mechanisation Authority.
She explained that the recruitment and training exercise represent a major investment in human capital development and a strategic move toward strengthening agricultural activities across the state.
According to her, the training is designed to transform the newly recruited workers into effective field officers by exposing them to various aspects of agriculture and the operations of its agencies.
Mrs. Sunday further stated that the initiative would equip the officers with knowledge in data collection, transparency, and effective engagement with farming communities, especially in the distribution of fertilizers, seeds, and other agricultural inputs.
She commended the efforts of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for prioritizing human capital development, describing the gesture as part of the administration’s commitment to improving the agricultural sector.
In his remarks, Mr. Vandi urged the newly employed officers to remain dedicated and focused in the discharge of their duties to ensure progress and efficiency in their work.
He also advised them to cooperate with their superiors and colleagues, noting that teamwork would enable them to achieve greater success in service delivery.
Some of the beneficiaries commended the organizers of the training and pledged to step down the knowledge acquired to farmers in their respective communities in order to achieve the objectives of the programme.
The programme also featured presentations by experts on practical agricultural skills in different areas aimed at enhancing service delivery in the sector.
