The coordinator in charge of distributing the items, Abdullahi Njidda Damare, disclosed this while speaking to journalists shortly after the items were distributed to patients. The complex surgical procedure, carried out by a team of specialists, marks the sixth successful operation of its kind at the hospital. The conjoined twins, who were born attached at the abdomen, underwent a successful three-hour separation surgery performed by a thirty-five-member medical team at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola. Head of the surgical team and former Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Auwal Abubakar, said the twins were brought to the hospital from Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State after complications were discovered at birth. As Muslims enter the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan, a call has been made to the Muslim community across Nigeria to increase their devotion in worship and offer prayers for the country and its leaders for the sake of peace and national development. Alhaji Gambo Jika stated that the last ten days of Ramadan are very significant for Muslims; therefore, they should intensify their acts of worship and prayers, seeking the help of Almighty Allah to address the security challenges and the high cost of living being experienced across Nigeria. The Director of Research and Development Centre of Excellence of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Dr. Salihu Bakari Girei, has commended the team of surgeons at the Paediatrics Centre of the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH), Yola, for successfully carrying out a complex surgery to separate conjoined twins. Dr. Girei who represented the Executive Secretary of TETFUND Mr Sunny Echono, gave the commendation on Monday while visiting the centre to inspect ongoing projects funded by TETFund at the hospital in Yola. The Muslim community has been called upon to remain united and support one another in order to promote good conduct and advance the religion of Islam as it should be practiced.  Chairman of the Council for Islamic Affairs in Adamawa State, Alhaji Gambo Jika, made this call while delivering a speech during an Iftar (breaking of the fast) organized by the Muslim Youth Association of Nigeria (MUYAN), Adamawa State Chapter. Guardians of orphans have been advised to care for the children with honesty and trustworthiness, bearing in mind that Almighty Allah will hold them accountable for their responsibilities on the Day of Judgment. The Ameerah of the Islamic Muslim Women Organization of Nigeria (IMWON) in Adamawa State, Hajiya Asma’u Abubakar, gave the advice during the distribution of food items to orphans in Yola. Hajiya Asma’u said caring for orphans carries great reward before Allah, stressing that mothers and guardians should pay serious attention to their upbringing so they grow up with sound moral values.
