NASU, SSANU Embark on Strike Over Unmet Agreements

TheNon-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) have embarked on an indefinite strike following the Federal government failure to conclude the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement and other demands. The unions said the decision was taken after several rounds of discussions with government officials ended without any concrete resolution.  They noted that despite sustained engagement and dialogue, no meaningful progress was achieved, leaving them with no option but to proceed with the industrial action. Speaking to journalists in Yola, the Chairperson of NASU at Modibbo Adama University, Comrade Sadiya Mustafa, stated that the strike would continue until the government addresses their long-standing demands. She emphasized that union members are workers like any other and deserve fair treatment, adding that the prolonged delay in meeting their demands prompted the strike as a last resort.

By Bamanga Abdullahi The Chief Imam of the Police Barracks Juma’at Mosque in Yola, CSP Ahmad Suleiman, has called on Muslim Ummah to uphold true Islamic teachings and good morals to promote peace and development. Speaking to Radio Nigeria Yola , Imam Suleiman said the purpose of human creation is to worship Allah, and should therefore abide by the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the traditions of the Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him. He urged Muslims to live peacefully with all people, regardless of faith, stressing that bandits, kidnappers, and insurgents do not represent Islam but reflect their own criminal intentions. He said Islam protects the rights of all people, including non-religious and traditional believers. The cleric noted that kindness to parents and maintaining family and social ties enhance life in this world and the Hereafter.
