Adamawa state government call farmers and headers to embrace peace and unity among them.
Farmers in Adamawa State have been advised to avoid planting crops near roads to prevent clashes with herders across the state.
The Permanent Secretary on Security at the Government House, Yola,Usman Suleiman Palam, gave the advice while speaking with Newsmen in Yola.
Palam urged both farmers and herders to always maintain unity and do everything possible to avoid actions that could lead to misunderstandings.
He emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence for the stability of the state and the country at large.
Palam specifically advised farmers to avoid cultivating in grazing areas and to plant at least thirty metres away from roads.
According to him, this measure will help reduce conflicts between farmers and herders, enhance economic development, and create job opportunities for the youth.
Palam also urged traditional rulers not to permit farming in designated grazing areas, stressing that this would help provide a lasting solution to recurring clashes.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nyakkore Farmers Association, Abdulrazak Abubakar, said the group is committed to fostering peaceful relations between farmers and herders to promote peace and food security in Adamawa State.
