Suspected Boko Haram Kills 8 Persons In Adamawa Including Police Officer

Suspected members of BokoHaram have killed Eigth people  after it raided Gaya-Dlang  near Fa'agaya in Hong local government area of Adamawa State around 5:00pm on Monday.

According to reports, the terrorists also burnt houses and carted away with food stuffs.

The raid came less than a month when similar attack was carried out on Monday, 27 July, 2026 around 6:00 PM by the terrorists in Zah community in Yadul District of Hong local government area in which a middle-aged woman was abducted and four persons including a Forest Guard official were killed.

Confirming the incident, the Executive Chairman of Hong LGA, Hon. Dr. Aliyu Saad Yerima Hong, said "we have eight casualties among seven civilians and one police officer.

He said some inhabitants have sustained minor injuries while running for their lives, adding that the corpse of the Police officer has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Hong.

The Council Chairman further said all the four ladies earlier abducted have escaped, "this morning all of them are back. The four ladies, all of them are back".

Dr. Hong said the situation in the area is now calm due to presence of the military personnel there.

He however said the continuous attacks on the communities in Gaya and Yadul districts have forced farmers who constitutes bulk of the population to abandoned their farms, noting that it will have adverse effect on food security.

"There is serious fear because 80% of our peasant farmers that are farming in that area have abandoned their farms. Even now as I'm talking to you, I'm together with the councilor representing Garaha area. His farm is also there around that area, and as he said, they have abandoned his farm. So you can't go to farm now. You know before, during rainy season like this, you'll not see them, but this time around the thing is different. They are many in that area, in that axis now..

"You know, that area, they have vast land. People even from Mubi, Gombe, used to come and farm there, talk less of we that are in Hong Local Government Area. Most of our farms are in that area, but now, no... no farming activities there. So it will seriously affect the food security of our people," he said.

Dr.Hong said the local council will continue to assist military and other security agencies as well as hunters and vigilante members towards providing security in the area and across the entire local government area.

The council chairman applauded Fintiri led administration for its efforts in tackling security in the state.

"The state government under the leadership of Ahmadu Fintiri is doing its best. So, we are on it. We are praying. By the grace of God, things will getting better," Dr. Hong said.

The council chairman called on communities across the local government to always be on alert and inform security agencies movement of suspected persons or those with questionable characters for prompt action.
