ASUU Heroes day award some members in Yola

The Academic staff union of university ASUU of the Modibbo Adama university Yola has provided scholarships to some under privileged students and award of excellence to some Prominent citizens in Adamawa state, call on the well meaning Nigerians to emulate the culture. The National President of the Academic staff union of universities Prof Emmanuel Victor Osodeke made this call during the union Heroes day in Yola. According to him, the gesture is one of the steps taking forward by the union towards the educational development of the university system.
He said, the educational systems in the university is not getting the desired attention from the federal government of Nigeria as it was during the 1970s and 80s, when the overall welfare and demands of the university was given a priority. The National President of the union has assured the total commitments and sacrifices of the union towards the actualisation of the mission of the Nigerian universities.
The Vice chancellor of Modibbo Adama university Yola, Prof Liman Tukur also commended the effort and sacrifices of the Modibbo Adama university branch union for sponsoring some students for further studies in universities. Prof Liman further described the gesture as Nigerian project, implore the entire well meaning Nigerians to come in, for the overall interest of the state. Dr El-Maude Jibrin the ASUU chairman of the Modibbo Adama university Yola, assured continued support, commitments and sacrifices of the union towards the development of Nigerian universities in particular and the nation at large.
The members have been urged to promote the culture of respect among themselves, for the overall interest of the nation.

The Adamawa State Police Command regrets to confirm a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on 3rd June, 2026, at about 1:50 p.m. along the Narehi area of Girei-Song Local Government Areas. Police Public Relation OfficerAdamawa state Command SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje  discloused this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola. The unfortunate incident involved a military Gun truck travelling from Gombi towards Yola and a commercial Hummer bus conveying five (5) passengers from Yola to Mubi. Preliminary findings reveals that both vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, resulting in the commercial bus flipped over and burst into flames. ASUU MODIBBO ADAMA UNIVERSITY BRANCH COMMENCED TWO WEEK WARNING STRIKE.

  By Alhassan Haladu Yola. ‎The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Modibbo Adama University (MAU) Yola branch, has commenced a two-week warning strike in compliance with the directive of the union’s national body over unresolved demands with the Federal Government. ‎ ‎The Chairperson of ASUU, MAU Yola branch, Comrade Modibbo Muhammed Buba, disclosed this in a statement issued shortly after the union’s congress held at the university. ‎ ‎According to Comrade Buba, the media interaction became necessary for two main reasons — to brief the public on the state of the union’s engagement with the Federal Government concerning outstanding issues, and to clarify the notice of action issued by the National Executive Council (NEC) of ASUU on 29th September 2025. ‎ ‎He said the NEC meeting had expressed concern over the Federal Government’s neglect of the university system and its persistent refusal to meet the union’s longstanding demands. NSCDC Adamawa State Command Deploys 2,521 Personnel for Easter Festivitie

By Alhassan Haladu Yola. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa State Command, has deployed  2,521 personnel* across the state to ensure a safe and peaceful Easter celebration. The State Commandant, Comdt Idris Bande, issued the directive for the massive deployment to provide adequate safety and security for lives and property, as well as to protect all critical national assets and infrastructure within Adamawa State during the Easter period.
