Protests Erupt at Yola Polytechnic over lack of Electricity and water.

In the early hours of this morning, students at the College of Science and Technology in Yola staged a peaceful protest in response to ongoing issues with electricity and water supply. The demonstration, primarily led by hostel residents, was sparked by two weeks of persistent power outages, which have severely impacted the availability of water on campus.


The protesters, Baba lastiri one of the Student expressing their frustration, called on the Adamawa State Government and the college's management to urgently address the situation. The lack of electricity has not only deprived students of drinking water but also hindered their ability to carry out basic daily activities, such as bathing.


In previous instances, students have had to venture outside the school premises in search of water, but the current situation has reached a breaking point, prompting this morning's demonstration. The students are urging the authorities to take immediate action to restore both power and water supplies to the campus.

The Rector of Adamawa State politechnic Yola, Prof. Mohammed Tangos, has announced the successful restoration of electricity across the institution. In a press briefing earlier today, Prof. Tangos assured the public and the academic community that the management is fully committed to maintaining the operational stability of the institution.


"We are pleased to inform you that the electricity issue has been resolved, and all systems are now fully operational. The management is actively monitoring the situation to ensure that such disruptions do not occur in the future," said Prof. Tangos.


The Rector's statement comes after days of power outages that had disrupted academic activities, sparking concerns among students and staff. Prof. Tangos expressed gratitude to the technical team for their swift response and reassured stakeholders that the management is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of service delivery.


The Rector also took the opportunity to outline the institution's plans for future infrastructure improvements, emphasizing the importance of consistent power supply to the academic environment.


"The management is not only focused on resolving current challenges but also on implementing long-term solutions to enhance the institution's infrastructure," Prof. Tangos added.


The resolution of the electricity issue has been met with relief from students and staff, who are now able to resume their academic and administrative duties without further interruption
