By Alhassan Haladu Yola.

‎The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Adamawa State Chapter, has held its first General Assembly Meeting, identifying key challenges confronting Muslim communities in the state.

‎The meeting, held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, brought together Muslim media professionals who deliberated on issues affecting unity, coordination, and productivity among Muslims in Adamawa State.

‎In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, participants listed major challenges to include lack of empowerment, ignorance, marginalization, stereotyping, laxity, and political interference.

‎The stakeholders called on Muslims to set aside differences and unite in promoting Islam, describing religion as the central pillar for guidance and coordination in the Muslim world.

‎The assembly underscored the strategic role of Muslim media practitioners, urging them to use their platforms to set agendas capable of bringing Muslims together to collectively address common challenges.

‎The meeting also advocated equal opportunities for Muslims, calling on government authorities to ensure fairness in recruitment exercises and school admission processes.

‎To tackle the rising problem of street begging, especially among Almajiri children, the organization proposed community-based outreach programmes to educate parents and guardians on the dangers of allowing children to roam the streets without proper care.

‎Participants further resolved to launch intensive radio awareness campaigns to promote good parenting and responsible upbringing.

‎The assembly also appealed to wealthy Muslims and Islamic organizations to prioritize empowerment initiatives for Muslim youths, particularly in skills acquisition, information and communication technology (ICT), and vocational training.

‎In addition, Muslim media practitioners were urged to uphold the principles of truth and fairness in line with Islamic teachings while discharging their professional responsibilities.

‎The meeting also called on Muslim political office holders to place the interest of Islam above partisan considerations and urged Islamic organizations to intensify sensitization campaigns against the spread of fake news, especially among youths.

‎The communiqué was jointly signed by the Chairman, Muhammad Isma’il; the Secretary, Ibrahim Kado; and members Aliyu Ahmed and Hassana Husseini.
