Adamawa Ministry of Agriculture Holds Workshop on Crop Disease Control

In a bid to strengthen agricultural production across Adamawa State, the Adamawa State Ministry of Agriculture has organized a one-day sensitization workshop for senior agricultural officers from the state’s 21 local government areas on how to identify and control diseases affecting farm crops.
The workshop took place at the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters within the Adamawa State Government Secretariat, Yola.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor David Jatau, commended the Permanent Secretary and the Department of Agricultural Services for organizing the workshop.
He urged participants to make effective use of the knowledge gained to promote sustainable agricultural development in the state.
Professor Jatau also advised participants to intensify awareness campaigns in rural communities, stressing that educating farmers on crop diseases would help reduce losses and improve productivity.
He further called on senior officers to mentor and guide newly recruited staff to ensure the growth and effectiveness of the ministry.
The Commissioner also praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his continued commitment and support to the Ministry of Agriculture, which he said has contributed significantly to the improvement of agricultural activities across Adamawa State.
Earlier in his presentation, the resource person and workshop leader, Dr. Ibrahim Bayaso, explained that the sensitization was designed to enlighten agricultural officers on how crop disease outbreaks occur and how they can be prevented.
He emphasized the need for officers to extend the knowledge to farmers and the general public to curb the spread of crop diseases.
Dr. Bayaso encouraged participants to apply the skills and information acquired to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure food security in the state.
Participants at the workshop expressed satisfaction with the training, describing it as timely and beneficial. They pledged to utilize the knowledge gained to support farmers and improve agricultural activities across Adamawa State.
