The Adamawa State Government, through the Adamawa State Ministry of Education, has distributed learning materials to all senior secondary schools across the state as part of efforts to strengthen and develop the education sector.
The distribution ceremony was held at General Murtala Muhammed College in Yola.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Garba Pella, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education and enhancing academic performance among students statewide.
He urged school principals to ensure proper management and utilization of the materials, noting that effective supervision would contribute significantly to delivering quality education.
Dr. Pella reaffirmed the government’s determination to see students excel in their final secondary school examinations, adding that the administration remains fully committed to providing free education across the state.
In his remarks, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), Mr. Birsan Peniel, warned school heads against the sale of the distributed materials. He stressed that any principal found engaging in such misconduct would face strict disciplinary action.
Mr. Peniel also advised school administrators to work closely with their host communities to ensure adequate security in schools, thereby creating a safe and peaceful learning environment for students. He called on teachers to make effective use of the materials and remain dedicated to their duties to promote educational progress across the state.
He further encouraged parents to support schools by ensuring their children attend classes regularly and punctually, emphasizing that such cooperation would motivate teachers to perform at their best. According to him, with the state government covering final secondary school examination fees and providing free education, there should be no reason for parents to keep their children out of school.
Mr. Peniel commended the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for prioritizing the education sector and consistently providing teaching materials to schools for the overall development of the state.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Hajiya Aisha Muhammed Umar, urged school heads to properly safeguard the materials to prevent damage and ensure their effective use. She advised students across the state to remain focused on their studies in order to complete their education successfully with commendable results.
The materials distributed include textbooks in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and other core subjects.
