The Zone 3 Police Headquarters, Yola, is pleased to inform the general public that Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Osagie John Agans-Irabor has today, 4th August, 2026, officially assumed duty as the 30th Assistant Inspector-General of Police in-charge of Zone 3 Headquarters, Yola.


Police Public Relation Officer Zone 3 Command Adamawa state SP Aminu Umar Bashir discloused this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola.


AIG Osagie John Agans-Irabor is an indigene of Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English from the University of Benin. 


He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on 18th July, 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and received his initial police training at the Nigeria Police Academy Annex, Kaduna State.

With over three (3) decades of distinguished service in the Nigeria Police Force, AIG Agans-Irabor has served in several commands and formations across the country.


He began his policing career at the Imo State Police Command, where he served as Divisional Patrol and Guard (P&G) and Divisional Crime Officer (DCO).

In 1999, he was posted to No. 15 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Ilorin, Kwara State, where he served as Unit Commander (UC) and later as Second-in-Command (2IC). He was subsequently redeployed as the Commanding Officer of 39 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Oshogbo, Osun State.


After leaving the Police Mobile Force, he was transferred to Ogun State Police Command, where he served as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Ijebu-Igbo, Igbeba, Owode-Egba, and Odeda Divisions. He also served in the Lagos State Police Command in various operational and administrative capacities, including as DPO, Langbasa Division. He was later redeployed to Yobe State Police Command, where he served as DPO, ‘A’ Division, Damaturu.

In 2012, AIG Agans-Irabor was redeployed to the Railway Police Command, where he served as DPO, Railway Division, Abeokuta, and later as Area Commander, Railway Area Command, Ibadan.


He subsequently served as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), at the Bayelsa State Police Command, before being posted as Area Commander, Aguata Area Command, Anambra State Police Command.


Following his promotion to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), he served as DCP, Department of Finance and Administration, Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar, and was later redeployed as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Benue State Command, Makurdi.


In 2024, he was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP). During this period, he served as Commissioner of Police, General Investigation (GI), FCID Annex, Kaduna, and later as Commissioner of Police, Anti-Human Trafficking, FCID, Lagos. 


On 18th May, 2026, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).


Throughout his career, AIG Agans-Irabor has attended several professional courses and leadership programmes within Nigeria. These include:


■ Citizenship and Leadership Training Course, at Shere Hills, Jos-Plateau State.


■ Combat Operations Course, Police Mobile Training College, Ggwoza-Borno orno State.


■ Advanced Detective Course (ADC), Police Staff College, Jos-Plateau State.


■ Tactical Leadership and Command Course (TLCC), Police Staff College, Jos-Plateau State.


■ Strategic and Leadership Command Course, Police Staff College, Jos-Plateau State.


■Second-in-Command (2IC) Police Mobile Force Course, Police Mobile Training College, Gwoza-Borno State.


■ Police Mobile Force Commanding Officers’ Course, Police Mobile Training College, Gwoza-Borno State.


As the new Assistant Inspector-General of Police in-charge of Zone 3, AIG Osagie John Agans-Irabor brings a wealth of operational, investigative, and administrative experience to his new assignment. Having served in several strategic and sensitive positions within the Nigeria Police Force, he is committed to strengthening security and reducing crime and criminality across the Zone.


The AIG maintains a zero-tolerance policy against extortion, places a high premium on respect for human rights, and remains a strong advocate of community policing. He is committed to working closely with other security agencies, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to enhance public safety and ensure effective policing throughout the Zone.

The Adamawa State Police Command regrets to confirm a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on 3rd June, 2026, at about 1:50 p.m. along the Narehi area of Girei-Song Local Government Areas. Police Public Relation OfficerAdamawa state Command SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje  discloused this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola. The unfortunate incident involved a military Gun truck travelling from Gombi towards Yola and a commercial Hummer bus conveying five (5) passengers from Yola to Mubi. Preliminary findings reveals that both vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, resulting in the commercial bus flipped over and burst into flames. ASUU MODIBBO ADAMA UNIVERSITY BRANCH COMMENCED TWO WEEK WARNING STRIKE.

NSCDC Adamawa State Command Deploys 2,521 Personnel for Easter Festivitie

The State Commandant, Comdt Idris Bande, issued the directive for the massive deployment to provide adequate safety and security for lives and property, as well as to protect all critical national assets and infrastructure within Adamawa State during the Easter period.
