Farmers have been charged to prioritize cotton farming.
To boost cotton farming across Nigeria, farmers have been advised to extend their activities to farming cotton for the development and boosting economy of the country.
Special Adviser to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Agriculture, Alhaji Usman Abubakar (Manu Ngurore) gave this advice while speaking at the awareness campaign to farmers on cotton farming, which helps in Ngurore, Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Alhaji Usman Abubakar said since 2016, BTcotton seed has been coming into the country to allow farmers to boost their activities accordingly.

Alhaji Usman said the first time, they tried with 500 farmers across the country, and no result of loss after harvest, which gave the farmers a chance to continue farming cotton in Nigeria.
He urged the government at all levels, the National Assembly, and stakeholders to support the programs of BTcotton, which help farmers invest in Nigeria. This helps our youth to consider farming cotton.
He also stressed that he took a long time farming Cotton, which is why he received the Award for Best Farmer in Africa in Kenya, pointing out that he recently represented Northern Nigeria at a workshop in Benin Republic.
On his part, Mr. Rabith from BTcotton India, said they are in Nigeria to bring this improved seed of BTcotton for the benefit of farmers in the country with the view to reduce unemployment among the youth for peace and development.
He called on farmers to consider the seed of BTcotton, which would allow them to extend their activities in Nigeria.
Some of the farmers commended those who are supporting them with the BTcotton seeds, affirming that no loss was recorded during harvest.
They promised to continue using BTcotton with the view to contributing their quota in boosting the economy and minimizing the hardship that Nigerians are currently experiencing.
