"Empathy and Compassion: The New Mantra for Health Workers in Shagari"

In a groundbreaking move to revolutionize healthcare delivery, health workers at Shagari Primary Health Care Center have been urged to employ empathy, tolerance, and patience in their daily interactions with patients and colleagues. This charge was delivered by Mr. Yohanna Manje during a training session on "Trauma Healing: Building Resilience and Compassion in Community Care" held on Saturday.
According to Mr. Manje, cultivating empathy, tolerance, and patience can significantly reduce stress and fatigue among healthcare workers, leading to improved patient care and outcomes. He emphasized the importance of effective communication in easing tension and facilitating understanding, noting that simple tolerance can often resolve issues that might otherwise escalate into major problems.
The training, organized in collaboration with the Justice Development Peace and Commission under it wings Emergency Preparedness Response Team and Yohans Adult Education Centre, aimed to equip health workers with the skills to develop resilience and provide compassionate care to patients, particularly those who have experienced trauma.
The Chairman of the clinic's Ward Development Committee, WDC, Shehu Usman Aliyu commended the organizations for their support WDC in organizing the session, assured staff that the WDC would henceforth continue to champion similar training initiatives to enhance healthcare services delivery in the area.
In her closing remarks, Hajiya Bilkisu Abdullah, Facility Manager of Shagari Clinic, thanked the organizers for the impactful and transformative training, promising that the lessons learned would be shared and applied both at home and in the workplace.
The training included practice demonstrations on how trauma can occur, its healing processes, and the consequences of neglecting it. Health workers were also taught how to be mindful of trauma's existence and how to tackle it effectively.
This initiative marks a significant step towards improving healthcare delivery in Shagari, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the community.
