The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa State Command, today joined the global community in commemorating the 2025 International Day of Peace, an annual event set aside by the United Nations General Assembly to promote peace, unity, and mutual coexistence. This year’s theme, *“Act Now for a Peaceful World”*, underscores the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to foster peace through proactive engagements.

Adamawa State Command Public Relation Officer DSC Amidu Nyako Baba discloused this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola.

The Command marked the occasion with a series of activities designed to promote harmony and inclusiveness across the state. The day commenced with a *Peace Walk* in the early hours, which saw the active participation of sister security agencies. This symbolic walk demonstrated the synergy and harmonious working relationship that exists among security operatives in Adamawa State towards achieving sustainable peace and security.

Following the walk, a public lecture was held at the Government House Banquet Hall, Yola, where stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, and representatives of civil society converged. The lecture highlighted the indispensable role of the Corps in building inclusive and sustainable peace in Adamawa State, particularly through conflict resolution, community engagement, and the protection of lives, critical infrastructure, and national assets.

Speaking at the event, the State Commandant ID Bande, who was represented by DCC Henry Bilesanmi reaffirmed the Corps’ unwavering commitment to its mandate of maintaining law and order, protecting the civil population, and fostering unity. He emphasized that peace is a shared responsibility and called on citizens to embrace dialogue, tolerance, and non-violence as essential tools for resolving disputes and strengthening social cohesion.

The 2025 commemoration serves as a reminder that peacebuilding is not the duty of security agencies alone but a collective obligation requiring proactive involvement from individuals, communities, and institutions alike. The NSCDC Adamawa State Command remains resolute in its role as a key player in promoting peace, security, and development across the state.
