Yusura Organization Intensifies Efforts to Improve the Lives of Youths in Adamawa

By Alhassan Haladu Yola.

The Yusura Organization, which brings together Muslim women and youths in Nigeria, has reaffirmed its commitment to rescuing young people from activities that could ruin their lives, dignity, and future.

The Amir (leader) of the organization in Adamawa State, Hajiya Maryam Rufa’i, made this known while speaking with journalists in Yola.

Hajiya Maryam Rufa’i stated that youths are the backbone of every society; therefore, they should never be neglected. She emphasized the need to intensify efforts to care for their well-being at all times in order to protect them from engaging in harmful or inappropriate behaviors.

She further explained that the Yusura Organization is working tirelessly to ensure that youths become responsible ambassadors within society who can contribute to lasting peace and development.

According to her, the organization regularly organizes awareness campaigns to educate young people on how to live responsibly and contribute positively to their communities.

She also urged youths to avoid activities that could negatively influence their thinking or lead them into wrongdoing. She encouraged them to acquire vocational skills that would enable them to become self-reliant and productive members of society.

The Amir added that the organization provides training for both male and female youths in various trades, often with support from government agencies, to promote small-scale entrepreneurship and youth development.

She advised parents to pay close attention to the upbringing of their children, monitor their movements, and be aware of the kind of friends they keep, noting that such vigilance can help prevent involvement in negative behaviors.

Furthermore, she encouraged women to focus on acquiring both religious and modern education, stressing that women are the first teachers of children and must continuously seek knowledge to guide the next generation effectively.

She also called on youths, especially those eligible, to register for voter cards, emphasizing that obtaining a voter’s card is their civic right. She further advised them to secure their National Identity Cards as part of responsible citizenship.

In his remarks, the Youth Leader of the Yusura Organization, Ahmed Bello Baba, stated that the organization educates youths through various outreach programs and has recorded significant success in its campaigns.

He added that the organization has expanded its activities across all 21 local government areas of Adamawa State.

He further noted that, as a result of sustained awareness campaigns, there has been a noticeable reduction in drug abuse among youths in the areas where the organization operates.

Ahmed Bello Baba therefore called on the general public and parents to work together in guiding young people and educating them about the dangers of drug abuse in order to ensure sustainable peace and development within the community.
