The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has officially announced the winners of its 2026 senatorial primary elections following the conclusion of the party’s direct primary exercise held across the state on Monday.

The announcement was made during a press briefing held at the Press Centre in Gombe by the Chairman of the APC Gombe State Primary Election Committee, Mallam Labiru  Kafur.

Addressing journalists, party stakeholders, and supporters, Kafur described the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and highly successful, noting that the primaries were conducted in strict compliance with the directives of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

According to him, the direct primary system enabled grassroots party members to participate actively in the democratic process across all eleven local government areas of the state.

He further disclosed that official declarations of results were made by designated Returning Officers at the respective zonal collation centres immediately after collation.

In the Gombe North Senatorial District, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya emerged as the APC candidate-elect with a total of 131,009 affirmation votes.

The declaration was made at the Gombe North Collation Centre located at the Kwami Local Government Secretariat.

For the Gombe Central Senatorial District, retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed, secured the party’s ticket after polling 89,415 valid votes. The results were declared at the Gombe Central Collation Centre in Kumo.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jerry Joseph Damara emerged victorious in the Gombe South Senatorial District with 56,687 valid votes.

The committee chairman affirmed that all winners met the necessary requirements and were duly returned as the official APC flag bearers for the forthcoming elections.

Kafur also commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya, the state party leadership, security agencies, and members of the media for their contributions toward what he described as a “transparent, credible, and world-class democratic exercise.”

The APC is expected to submit the names of the candidates-elect to the appropriate electoral authorities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
