The Adamawa State Police Command has noted the concerns raised in a publication circulating on social media regarding alleged activities of suspected “Shilla Boys” in some parts of Jimeta, Yola, and surrounding communities.
The Command wishes to reassure members of the public that security deployment and operational strategies across the State have not been compromised, as adequate personnel and tactical assets remain actively engaged in crime prevention, patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-led operations across all affected areas.
Police Public Relation Officer Adamawa state Command SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje Stated this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola.
The Commissioner of Police, 𝐂𝐏 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐫 𝐔𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧, 𝐩𝐬𝐜(+), has directed sustained day and night patrols, stop-and-search operations, and intensified monitoring of identified black spots to ensure the safety of lives and property.
The CP has equally ordered all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) within the affected areas to strengthen visibility policing, enhance intelligence gathering, and sustain coordinated operations, aimed at identifying and apprehending criminal elements terrorizing residents.
He further directed the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), alongside other tactical teams, to intensify intelligence-driven operations, raids on identified criminal hideouts, and community-based policing efforts in order to restore public confidence and improve security within the affected communities.
The Command equally warns all criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities, as the ongoing operations are targeted at identifying, arresting, and prosecuting offenders responsible for acts of violence, robbery, and public disturbance.
Residents are encouraged to remain law-abiding, avoid spreading panic, and continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information through the nearest Police Station or emergency contact lines.
