The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim unhurt, and recovered two AK-47 rifles with live ammunition during a coordinated rescue operation carried out in Song Local Government Area of the State.
Police Public Relation Officer Adamawa state Command SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje discloused this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola.
The operation followed actionable intelligence received by the Command regarding the abduction of one Alhaji Sidiki Isah, a 54-year-old resident of Tambo Village, Girei Local Government Area, who was reportedly kidnapped and held captive at Luro Mountain in Song LGA.
The Kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Ninety Million Naira (N90,000,000) from the victim’s family.
On the Strength of that, the Commissioner of Police,
𝑪𝑷 𝑲𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒓 𝑼𝒎𝒂𝒓 𝑯𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒏, , swiftly deployed operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, using Geospartial intelligence linked to the kidnappers and immediately embarked on a rescue mission in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) to the identified hideout.
During the operation, the mountain was strategically cordoned off, and upon sighting the combined security team, the kidnappers opened fire on the operatives. The security team responded professionally and successfully repelled the attackers.
Consequently, two suspected kidnappers were neutralized during the exchanged of gunfire, while other members of the gang fled the scene with bullet wounds.
Interestingly, the kidnapped victim was rescued safely without injury and has since been reunited with his family.
Items recovered from the suspects include, Two (2) AK-47 rifles, Seventeen (17) rounds of live ammunition, Handset, Charms and others.
While investigation is ongoing, the area is currently being combed by Command operatives with a view to apprehending the fleeing suspects and recovering additional weapons.
The Commissioner of Police commended the gallantry and professionalism displayed by the operatives and collaborating security stakeholders during the operation. He further reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across the State.
The Command urges members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information, and to promptly report any suspicious persons or individuals seen with bullet wounds to the nearest Police formation for necessary action.
