The Adamawa State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its sustained fight against Shilla gangsterism and other violent crimes within Yola North and Yola South Local Government Areas.
Police Public Relation Officer Adamawa State Command SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje discloused this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola.
On 12th June, 2026, Police operatives attached to Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters responded swiftly to a distress call following an attack on a passenger aboard a commercial tricycle (Keke Napep) along Doubeli Bye-Pass. The suspect, one Abdulmalik Mohammed, 22 years old, of Zango area, armed with a cutlass, reportedly attacked the victim and dispossessed him of his mobile phone.
Upon raising an alarm, members of the public apprehended the suspect and attempted mob action against him before police operatives arrived, rescued, and took him into custody. Preliminary investigation further linked the suspect to a series of theft cases within the metropolis, including the theft of a sewing machine at Tsohon Kasuwa. Efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of his criminal activities.
In another success, on 14th June, 2026, police operatives on confidence-building patrol arrested two suspected Shilla gang members identified as Abba Abdullahi, 17 years old, and Abdulrahman Saidu,16 years old. The suspects were found in possession of dangerous knives suspected to have been intended for use in committing criminal acts at a birth birthday party.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, 𝐂𝐏 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐫 𝐔𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧, 𝐅𝐝𝐜, commended the operatives for their proactive response and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Command's commitment to dismantling Shilla gangs and other criminal groups threatening the peace and security of residents.
The Command calls on members of the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information, assuring that all reports will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
