NSCDC Deploys Personnel to Track Students Over ‘Signed Out’ Celebrations in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has deployed personnel across the state to track down secondary school leavers and others suspected of participating in the controversial “Signed Out” celebrations.


The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Amidu Nyako Baba, disclosed this while speaking with Newsmen in Yola.


According to Nyako, the Command is continuing its investigation into 10 suspects arrested in connection with separate “Signed Out” gatherings. He said those in custody have provided useful information that has helped investigators identify other individuals believed to have participated in similar activities.


He explained that the action followed a directive from Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, conveyed through the State Commissioner for Education, Garba Pella, banning “Signed Out” celebrations traditionally held by students after completing their WAEC or NECO examinations.


Nyako said the NSCDC intervened because the celebrations had become associated with acts of violence, including fights and alleged snatching of people’s belongings. He said the incidents prompted the arrest of the 10 suspects, who are currently assisting investigators with information that could lead to the identification of other participants.


The spokesperson further disclosed that preliminary investigations showed that not all those involved were graduating students. He said some of the suspects were not students at all, while others were in Junior Secondary School or Senior Secondary School classes four and five.


He added that security personnel had been deployed to track down and arrest other suspects identified during the investigation.


Nyako stated that those found culpable would be arraigned before a court for prosecution after the completion of investigations. He stressed that the NSCDC would not allow activities capable of threatening peace and security to continue unchecked and would take all necessary legal steps to bring the situation under control.


He urged parents to pay closer attention to their children’s activities and ensure they do not become involved in acts capable of violating the law. He also called on members of the public to support security agencies by providing credible and confidential information that could assist in identifying and apprehending those involved.

The Adamawa State Police Command regrets to confirm a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on 3rd June, 2026, at about 1:50 p.m. along the Narehi area of Girei-Song Local Government Areas. NSCDC Adamawa State Command Deploys 2,521 Personnel for Easter Festivitie

The State Commandant, Comdt Idris Bande, issued the directive for the massive deployment to provide adequate safety and security for lives and property, as well as to protect all critical national assets and infrastructure within Adamawa State during the Easter period.
