By Alhassan Haladu Yola.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa State Command, has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged transportation of vandalised Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) pipeline materials.
Public Relation Officer Asamawa state Command DSC Amidu Nyako Baba disclosed this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola.
The suspects were apprehended by the Commandant’s Special Squad following credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected vandalised pipes. They were intercepted at *Jereng, Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa State*, while conveying *250 pieces of metal pipes, each measuring approximately 8 to 10 feet in length*.
The recovered pipes were *concealed in bags of cassava* in an apparent attempt to disguise the nature of the consignment and evade security checks.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the consignment was allegedly loaded at *Namnai, Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State*, and was being transported to *Kano State*.
The operation is part of the sustained efforts of the State Commandant, *Commandant Nasiru Sale*, to protect critical national assets and infrastructure and prevent economic sabotage through the illegal vandalisation, movement and disposal of government-owned facilities and materials.
The Command remains commitment to working closely with relevant stakeholders and sister security agencies to identify and dismantle networks involved in the vandalisation, theft and illegal transportation of critical national assets.
The *principal suspect, identified as Adamu Lawan, is currently at large*, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend him. Members of the public are therefore encouraged to provide credible information that may assist the Corps in locating and arresting him.
The three arrested suspects are currently in custody and are undergoing further investigation. Upon completion of the investigation, they will be charged to court in accordance with extant laws.
NSCDC Adamawa State Command urges members of the public to promptly report suspicious movements or activities involving pipelines and other critical national assets to the nearest security outfit.
