SWAN Sirawo, Benjamin Are Good Allies....Yarima.

Sani Sulaiman Yarima, the outgoing Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Taraba State chapter, has expressed his optimism that the past and present Presidents of the Association, Sir Honor Sirawo, and Isiah Benjamin, will reconcile soon and continue to be the good allies they are known to be.

In an interview with our reporter on Sunday evening at the National Stadium Abuja, Yarima stated that Sirawo and Benjamin have come a long way and stressed the need for them to work together for the development of the association.

He said that they could settle any issues they have within themselves without allowing outsiders to destroy their relationship, which he described as hypocritical.

Sulaiman Sani Yarima, who is also aspiring for the Chairmanship in the upcoming Taraba State election, appealed to the former President, Sir Honor Sirawo, not to destroy the house they have suffered and built due to a certain interest.

He reminded Sirawo of his efforts towards ensuring a peaceful election that produced Mr. Isiah Benjamin at Omoku in Rivers State.

According to him, at the venue, Benjamin's rival, the former Deputy President of SWAN, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo, conceded defeat, hugged Isiah Benjamin, and congratulated him.

Moreover, Yarima urged the current National President of SWAN and his Exco to continue their hard work geared towards uplifting the association as they are building from where Sirawo's led former Exco had stopped.

Sulaiman Sani Yarima, the Taraba State SWAN Chairmanship aspirant, also called on former Presidents, Deputy Presidents, and VPs, as well as other stakeholders in the association, to mediate and resolve the ongoing crisis between the past and present Presidents, which is said to be uncalled for.

Yarima commended Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for his passion for sports development and youth empowerment.

He urged him to carry SWAN along for the world to always be enlightened on his support of sporting activities in the state.

When asked whether or not his outgoing Chairman, Mr. Joachim Dangana, will re-contest for the second term, Yarima explained that he is not aware.

He added, "My able Chairman may wish to re-contest, and he may not, but frankly speaking, we have not discussed my contest, so also his intention too."

"Our Chairman has done well because, under his leadership, we were able to secure an office for SWAN from the Sports Council under the able leadership of the State Director, Coach George Shitta, and organized an Award night, among others," said Yarima.

In conclusion, Sulaiman Sani Yarima enjoined members of the association in the state to revalidate their membership and vote for someone who has the association and members' interests at heart to ensure transparency, accountability, justice, and welfare.
