UNICEF Dolls Out WASH Dignity Kits to 1,500 IDP Households in Sokoto

By Abdullahi Tukur  Around 1,500 internally displaced households across four communities in Tangaza and Sokoto South Local Government Areas of Sokoto State have benefited from the distribution of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) dignity kits as part of efforts to improve access to essential hygiene supplies and safe water for vulnerable populations.  The intervention was implemented by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), with support from UNICEF, as part of the ongoing humanitarian WASH response for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable host communities in the state.  The distribution covered Sabon Gari and Shiyar Hakimi communities in Tangaza, and Gagi and Tudun Wada communities in Sokoto South local government areas. Adamawa Road Safety Stakeholders Call for Stronger Action to Reduce Crashes

Road safety stakeholders in Adamawa State have called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, transport operators, road users and communities to reduce road traffic crashes in the state. FRSC Public Relation Officer Adamawa State Command SRC A H Tukur Stated this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola. The call was made on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at a town hall stakeholder engagement organised by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adamawa State Sector Command, in conjunction with the Adamawa State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Transport, Rural Infrastructure and Community Development. The meeting, held at Admiral Nyako Hall in Yola, brought together government officials, lawmakers, security and emergency-response agencies, transport unions, traditional institutions, academics, community representatives and the media.
