The Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Anas Shu'aibu, at the Taraba State House of Assembly, praised Governor Agbu Kefas's administration for its commitment to sports and youth development in the state.
Shu'aibu, who represents Karim Lamido II Constituency under the platform of APGA, commended the governor while speaking to our reporter in Jalingo.
He emphasized the need for collective efforts in sports development in the state and described Kefas as a sports lover.
Shu'aibu pointed out that during the current administration's one year in office, the state has seen significant improvements in sporting activities compared to previous years.
He noted the participation of various teams in recent competitions within and outside Nigeria, as well as the continuation of the Olympic Day run in the state, as evidence that Governor Kefas has given priority to sports and youth development.
Shu'aibu also praised the appointment of Amb. Joseph Joshua as Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, highlighting his qualifications and contributions to sports and youth development in the state.
The lawmaker explained that the legislative and executive arms are working together to revive the Taraba Football Club and Taraba Queens.
He also emphasized the need for individuals and corporate organizations to join hands with the government to invest in the sports sector to reduce youth unemployment, noting that sports is a lucrative business and encourages the youth to be committed to sporting activities.
Anas Shu'aibu noted the Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Joseph Joshua's commitment to the realization of Governor Kefas's Moving Forward Agenda and praised the plans to renovate the Jolly Nyame Stadium as a milestone for the present administration, which will improve the state's internally generated revenue (IGR).
He restated his commitment to providing the dividends of democracy to his constituents and sponsoring laws that will positively impact the lives of the people of the state.
