International peace day Celebration in Adamawa.






 Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in partnership with Search for Common Ground, successfully commemorated the 2024 International Day of Peace, The event, themed "Cultivating the Culture of Peace," kicked off with a peace walk followed by a public lecture at the Government House Banquet Hall.



Public Relation Officer of Command Adamawa State DSC Amidu Nyako Baba discloused this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola.



Commandant ID Bande, the state commandant of NSCDC Adamawa, emphasized the importance of the International Day of Peace and the command's unwavering commitment to peacebuilding. 


He highlighted the corps' role in mitigating conflicts, particularly those arising from natural resource disputes between farmers and herders in certain communities within the state. 


He cited Section 3, Subsection 1a of the NSCDC Act, which empowers the corps to mediate between willing members of the public. This underscores the command's active role in conflict resolution and peace promotion. 


The commandant expressed gratitude to the state government for creating a conducive environment for peacebuilding initiatives.


Commandant Bande acknowledged the invaluable contributions of Search for Common Ground as key partners in peacebuilding efforts. He emphasized the significant achievements made through their collaborative work.


Dr. John Ngamsa, the guest speaker, stressed the importance of individual contributions to peacebuilding. 

He emphasized that everyone has a stake in creating a peaceful society.


The event featured an interactive session that allowed attendees to engage in discussions and share their perspectives on peacebuilding.


The event was attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including traditional leaders, NGOs, and CSOs.


The 2024 International Day of Peace celebration in Adamawa State was a resounding success. The collaboration between the NSCDC and Search for Common Ground demonstrated a shared commitment to fostering peace and security in the region. Through their collective efforts, they have made significant strides in mitigating conflicts and promoting a cultureral.
