Yola North Local Government Area, Adamawa State – Marking a significant milestone, Hon. Barr. Jibril Ibrahim Jimeta, the Executive Chairman of Yola North Local Government Council, has unveiled a series of transformative projects and achievements within his first 100 days in office, demonstrating his commitment to the community’s welfare and development.
Strengthening Security and Providing Relief
In response to community challenges, Chairman Jimeta worked closely with security agencies and local vigilantes to ensure safety during recent protests, prioritizing the protection of lives and property. Additionally, during the cholera outbreak in Jimeta, his administration acted swiftly to support health workers and assist affected individuals.
Empowering Local Farmers and Boosting Infrastructure
Understanding the critical role of agriculture, Jimeta's administration expanded the distribution of fertilizer to farmers, bolstering local food security. Infrastructural projects have been at the forefront, including the construction of gates at the Falluja market, a large culvert, and the rehabilitation of roads at the PZ market. The administration also successfully relocated GSM vendors to PZ and Falluja Markets to enhance business organization.
Flood Preparedness and Disaster Management
With flooding being a recurrent challenge, the administration embarked on a robust sensitization campaign along riverbank communities, promoting early evacuation awareness. For the first time, essential tools like life jackets, raincoats, and boots were provided to the Local Emergency Management Committee, improving response capabilities.
Social Welfare and Community Services
The Chairman has shown a dedication to social welfare, evidenced by the provision of books and materials to orphans and medical support for the less privileged. His commitment to cleanliness and health saw the clearing of refuse at major junctions and the desilting of drainages within the metropolis.
Reviving Sports and Investing in Education
Aiming to boost youth development, the council has revived the Jimeta United Football Club, inspiring community pride and engagement. In education, orphans in Jimeta have received books and materials, demonstrating a commitment to investing in the future.
New Projects and Upcoming Developments
The administration has also been active in proposing and initiating renovations for abandoned local government properties, including a new Local Government Secretariat and other structures aimed at improving service delivery.
