Gov Fintiri urges parents to prioritise Islamic, western education for their children








Muslim Ummah in Adamawa State have been called upon to be committed to acquiring both Islamic and western education for a better society. 


Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, made this call while speaking at the opening of Qur'anic Recitation competition in Demsa Local Government Area of the state.


He advised parents to enroll their children in Qur'anic schools and western education for the unity, peace, and development in the community.


Represented by the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Yayaji Mijinyawa, Fintiri emphasized the importance of organizing such competitions among the Muslim Ummah, saying that it is an opportunity for younger ones to understand and master the holy Qur'an.


The Governor also commended the organizers, noting that such competition helps to extend the Qur'anic knowledge among the society.


In his welcome address, the Chairman of the organizing commetee, Alhaji Aliyu Isma ila Numan commended the participants for their resilience and commitment, as well as thanked those who attended the event.


"Let us use this moment to come together in that spirit. Let us be patient with one another, as we build a stronger and more unified community, and let us forward the lessons learned today, the lesson of love, peace, and understanding and apply it to our daily lives," he pleaded.


He advised the participants to give maximum support to the leaders for the success of the competition.


He also called on the Judges to fear Allah in their judgement and ensure justice among the participants for peace and development.


In his paper presentation, Dr. Bashir Aliyu Imam who was represented by Dr. Aminu Yakubu, the Chief Imam of Nasarowo Demsa, emphasized the importance of reading and seeking Qur'anic Knowledge among the Muslims.


He advised the Muslim Ummah to contenue with prayers, seeking for Allah's intervention to overcoming security challenges in the state and the country at large.


On his part, the Chairman of the Muslim Council, Adamawa State, Alhaji Gambo Jika expressed gratitude and appreciated the Hamman Batta Gladstone, Alhamdu Teneke for his effort to hosting the Qur'anic Recitation in Demsa.


Alhaji Gambo Jika also called on the participants to obey the rules of the competition to ensure its success.


Gambo Jika also advised parents to send their children to both Qur'anic and western schools to acquire quality education.


In his speech, the Hamman Batta, Gladstone Alhamdu Teneke called for unity and peaceful coexistence among the society.


Hamman Batta who wqs represented by the District Head of Kawon Donwaya, Alhaji Isa Zura thanked the organizers for choosing Demsa to conduct the annual Qur'anic Recitation.


Additionally,  he expressed the Chiefdom's readiness to give maximum support for the success of the competition, and offered a prayer.
