NSCDC lDebunking Allegations of Unlawful Detention and Extortion by NSCDC Hong Division Adamawa State..













Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), as a law enforcement agency, remains committed to upholding its mandate of safeguarding public safety and security. Recent allegations accusing the Hong Division of unlawful detention and extortion of herders are false, baseless, and entirely unfounded.  




Public Relation Officer of Adamawa Command DSC Nyako Amidu Baba discloused this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola.




The statement said it is  important to clarify that NSCDC actions are in strict compliance with the executive order issued by  His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State , which bans transhumance movement of herders across the state until specified dates. This order, aimed at enhancing public safety and preventing farmer-herder clashes, was a resolution of the State Security Council meeting held on 18th October 2021 


The council determined the following schedule for transhumance movements: Adamawa and Mubi Emirates Movement permitted from 1st January 2025 



Ganye Chiefdom and Numan Federation: Movement permitted from  1st February 2025 Additionally, the ban includes  night grazing  and  grazing by underaged herders , with explicit instructions to prosecute violators.  


 Clarifications on Allegations Unlawful Detention, The herders currently in NSCDC custody were apprehended for violating the executive order. 



Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their violations, as some suspects are believed to be from outside the state.  



Extortion: NSCDC categorically denies engaging in any form of extortion. The Corps operates with integrity and professionalism, ensuring all actions are transparent and in accordance with the law.  

 

NSCDC urges the public to disregard these baseless allegations and continue supporting the Corps in its efforts to maintain peace and order. We also advise herders to respect the enforcement order and adhere to the stipulated guidelines to avoid legal repercussions, and remains steadfast in its commitment to enforcing the law without fear or favor and ensuring a harmonious environment for all residents of Adamawa State.
