Adamawa State Muslim Council Launches 1447 Islamic Calendar

 Adamawa State Muslim Council has launched the annual Islamic Calendar marking the year 1447 after the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him from Mecca to Madinah.


The event took place at the Secretariat of the Muslim Council in Yola, the Adamawa State capit





During his speech, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri commended the Muslim Council for its efforts in promoting the use of the Islamic Calendar through its annual launch among the Muslim Ummah.


Governor Fintiri, who was represented by the Commissioner for Rural Rehabilitation and Reconciliation, Bello Hamman Diram, called on the Muslim Ummah to use the Islamic Calendar in various Islamic centres to promote development and peaceful coexistence among Muslims and beyond.




He assured that his administration will continue to give maximum support to the Muslim Council to promote peace and development in the state and across the country.


Earlier, the Chairman of the Muslim Council in Adamawa State, Alhaji Gambo Jika, urged the Muslim Ummah to adopt the Islamic Calendar in their daily activities such as weddings, events, and other important occasions.





Alhaji Gambo Jika also appreciated all participants, and reiterated the Council’s commitment to promoting unity, harmony, and peace among communities.


In a remarks, the Guest Speaker, Sheikh Ibrahim Shehu Maihula Chairman of the Kano Hisbah Board and Chairman of the Kano State Musabaka Board of Trustees who was represented by Abubakar Ahmed Darma, emphasized the importance of using the Islamic Calendar and fostering unity among Muslims and non Muslims.





Alhaji Bashir Haske, the chief presenter of the Calendar, was represented by the member representing Yola South in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa, who announced the official launch of the Islamic Calendar with a donation of twenty million Naira.


The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly Bathia Wesley  thanked the Muslim Council for launching the Islamic Calendar and for promoting unity between Muslims and non-Muslims to ensure peaceful coexistence in the state.
