COAS Decorates Four Officers in Yola, Urges Commitment and Strategic Service

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the decoration of four officers of the 23 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Yola, with their new ranks of Captain in a brief but symbolic ceremony held at the Brigade headquarters in Yola, Adamawa State.


Presiding over the event on behalf of the Army Chief, the Commander of the 23 Brigade, Brigadier General Amaechi Ogbonnaya Agwu, led the decoration exercise and charged the officers to regard their new positions not merely as a promotion in rank, but as a call to higher responsibility and duty.


He emphasized that their elevation should inspire them to serve with renewed strategy, wisdom, and commitment to professionalism.


 "This new rank is not just about the insignia you now wear. It is about the trust reposed in you and the responsibility you carry. You must now think and act like leaders — with courage, tact, and purpose," Brigadier General Agwu told the newly promoted captains.




The Brigade Commander also used the occasion to highlight the growing synergy among security agencies in Adamawa State, noting that such collaboration is essential to sustain peace and make the state increasingly inhospitable to criminal elements.


 “Security is a collective duty. The Nigerian Army, in synergy with other security outfits, remains committed to ensuring that Adamawa remains safe and stable,” he added.


Brigadier General Agwu further encouraged the newly decorated officers to see themselves as pillars of trust and service, who must rise to the expectations of the military and the people they serve.


The four newly decorated officers are:Captain Adebayo Samuel Adewumi, Captain Nnebe, Captain Bitrus Phanuel Dauda and Captain A.A. Ismaila.



Speaking on behalf of the other promoted captains, Captain Adebayo Samuel Adewumi,  expressed their gratitude for the recognition and pledged to uphold the highest standards of military discipline, leadership, and dedication in their new roles.
