Women, Youths Urged to Register, Collect PVCs Ahead of 2027 General Elections

By Alhassan Jakadu Yola.

Women and youths have been urged to ensure they go out to register for their voter cards, while those who have already registered are encouraged to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). This, they say, will give them the opportunity to elect leaders of their choice in the 2027 general elections.

Mrs. Comford Ibrahim, the Women in Politics Coordinator for the North-East region, made this call during an interview with journalists in Yola.

She stated that women and youths make up the largest proportion of voters and therefore emphasized the need for them to actively participate in the voter registration process. According to her, it is only through the voter card that they can elect leaders who will address their challenges and improve their living conditions.

Mrs. Ibrahim also advised women and youths not to allow themselves to be misled on election day with promises or inducements that will not solve their problems. She urged them to vote for credible leaders who will protect their dignity and create employment opportunities for the people.

She added that women and youths are tired of being deceived, noting that they are now more aware and will no longer allow themselves to be manipulated.

She stressed that they are determined to ensure they elect leaders who are compassionate and responsive to the needs of the masses.

Furthermore, she called for greater inclusion of women in political representation, especially in national and state legislative assemblies, as well as in government positions.

According to her, women are capable of holding such offices effectively and delivering good governance.

She also encouraged political parties to support female candidates, noting that women can contribute meaningfully to unity, peace, and overall national development.

Mrs. Comford Ibrahim further advised women and youths to remain united and committed to actions that will promote peace, stability, and social cohesion in society.
