The importance of education as a catalyst for societal progress was brought to the forefront during a one-day higher education and career awareness programme held at Adamawa College of Nursing Sciences, Yola. The event attracted students, parents, education professionals, and community stakeholders who gathered to explore academic opportunities and discuss pathways to personal and national development.

Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of Lincoln University College Malaysia, Kumo Campus, Dr. Umaru Aliyu, emphasized the critical role education plays in shaping a peaceful and prosperous society. He noted that providing young people with quality education equips them with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the nation at large.

Dr. Aliyu explained that the programme was designed to enlighten prospective students and their families about available academic options, career prospects, and professional development opportunities. Participants received detailed information on a wide range of internationally recognized programmes, including management sciences, social sciences, medicine, and allied health disciplines.

The event also highlighted the growing availability of affordable international-standard education within Nigeria. According to Dr. Aliyu, students can now obtain globally respected qualifications through locally delivered programmes, thereby reducing the financial burden and logistical challenges commonly associated with overseas studies. This model, he said, is creating new opportunities for talented students who may not have the means to study abroad.

Another major focus of the programme was student support and accessibility. Prospective applicants were offered personalized academic guidance and counselling services to help them make informed educational choices. Qualified candidates were informed that admission procedures are streamlined, allowing successful applicants to secure placement within a few working days.

For many participants, the gathering provided valuable insights into higher education opportunities and renewed confidence in pursuing their academic ambitions. Parents and students alike expressed appreciation for the information shared and the clarity provided regarding educational and career pathways.

As the programme drew to a close, stakeholders reaffirmed the belief that education remains a powerful instrument for social transformation. By widening access to quality learning opportunities, educational institutions continue to foster human development, strengthen communities, and lay the foundation for a more united, stable, and prosperous Adamawa State.
