By Alhassan Haladu Yola.
Muslims have been urged to use the forthcoming Ashura fasting period to seek Allah’s intervention in addressing the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.
The Chairperson of the Women’s Humanitarian Support Group of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Adamawa State, Hajiya Amina Muhammad, made the appeal in an interview with Fombina FM in Yola.
Hajiya Amina explained that the fasting observed on the 9th and 10th days of Muharram holds great spiritual significance for Muslims and provides an opportunity for believers to draw closer to Allah through worship and supplication.
She encouraged Muslims to observe the two days of fasting and offer special prayers for lasting peace, improved security, and economic recovery across the country.
According to her, the nation is in need of collective prayers and sincere devotion to overcome the numerous challenges confronting citizens.
The JNI women's leader also called on Muslims to increase acts of charity and kindness during the period, noting that helping the less privileged attracts Allah’s mercy and abundant rewards.
She further urged the faithful to intensify their prayers for national unity, social harmony, and the well-being of leaders at all levels.
Hajiya Amina advised parents to take advantage of the sacred period to pray for their children, seeking Allah’s guidance, protection, and success in all aspects of their lives.
She emphasized the importance of nurturing children with sound moral and religious values to ensure a better future for society.
The JNI official prayed for Allah to accept the worship and supplications of Muslims and grant the nation peace, stability, and prosperity.
