Adamawa State Government Relaxes Curfew in Lamurde LGA, Urges Residents to Sustain Peace

Following a review of the security situation and the noticeable improvement in Lamurde Local Government Area, the Adamawa State Government has approved the relaxation of the curfew earlier imposed on the area following the prolonged crisis.



Chief Press Secretary to the Adamawa state Governor Humwashi Wonosikou stated this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola.


Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, said that the relaxed curfew takes immediate effect and will now be in force from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily until further notice.


The Governor commended the people of Lamurde for their cooperation with security agencies and for the gradual restoration of calm in the area.


“This improvement reflects the value of the decisive measures taken by government to halt the violence and restore normalcy,” Governor Fintiri said.


While announcing the relaxation, the Governor warned that the Government would not tolerate any further breach of the peace. He urged residents to sustain the prevailing calm and refrain from any actions capable of reversing the gains recorded so far.


Governor Fintiri reaffirmed the commitment of the Adamawa State Government to restoring lasting peace in Lamurde and ensuring the continued safety and security of lives and property across the state.


To this end, security agencies have been directed to maintain a strong presence and enforce law and order in the area. Residents are therefore advised to remain law-abiding and not test the resolve of the Government.


The Governor noted that Adamawa State is renowned for its enduring culture of peace, tolerance, and unity. He called on community leaders, traditional institutions, youth and women groups, and all residents to embrace dialogue, uphold the rule of law, and work collectively to ensure that Lamurde and the entire state remain peaceful, secure, and prosperous

The Adamawa State Police Command regrets to confirm a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on 3rd June, 2026, at about 1:50 p.m. along the Narehi area of Girei-Song Local Government Areas. Police Public Relation OfficerAdamawa state Command SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje  discloused this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola. The unfortunate incident involved a military Gun truck travelling from Gombi towards Yola and a commercial Hummer bus conveying five (5) passengers from Yola to Mubi. Preliminary findings reveals that both vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, resulting in the commercial bus flipped over and burst into flames. ASUU MODIBBO ADAMA UNIVERSITY BRANCH COMMENCED TWO WEEK WARNING STRIKE.

NSCDC Adamawa State Command Deploys 2,521 Personnel for Easter Festivitie

The State Commandant, Comdt Idris Bande, issued the directive for the massive deployment to provide adequate safety and security for lives and property, as well as to protect all critical national assets and infrastructure within Adamawa State during the Easter period.
