Government Secondary School Hong Celebrates 55th Graduation Ceremony in Adamawa

 Government Secondary School, Hong, in Adamawa State has celebrated its 55th graduation ceremony, attracting parents, friends, alumni, principals of various schools, and other dignitaries from within and outside Hong Local Government Area.


The ceremony, held at the school premises in Hong, highlighted the institution's achievements in academic excellence, character development, and its contributions to education over the years.


Speaking at the event, the Acting Executive  Secretary of the Adamawa State Post Primary Schools Management Board, Mr. Birsan Penuel, expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to witness the historic occasion. He commended the school management for successfully organizing the ceremony and for the remarkable achievements recorded by the institution.


Mr. Penuel congratulated the graduating students and award recipients for their hard work and dedication, urging them to uphold good character and serve as worthy ambassadors of both the school and Adamawa State wherever they find themselves.


He noted that the school's success was the result of the collective efforts of teachers, non-teaching staff, parents, and other stakeholders, and commended the staff for their commitment, patience, and teamwork.


The Acting Executive  Secretary also praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his commitment to improving education across the state. He equally commended the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, as well as the Commissioner for Education and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education for their contributions to the development of the education sector.


He further appreciated parents for partnering with teachers to ensure their children receive quality education.


In his welcome address, the Principal of Government Secondary School Hong, Mr. Yarima Emmanuel, said the graduation ceremony provided an opportunity to showcase the school's achievements in academic excellence and moral upbringing.


He congratulated the graduating students and assured them that the school would continue to strengthen its academic standards. He also appreciated members of staff for their dedication, praised the alumni for supporting the school's development, and thanked parents for their unwavering cooperation.


Mr. Emmanuel disclosed that the event marked the 55th graduation ceremony since the establishment of the school.


Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion and African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Omarana Suleiman, congratulated the school on the successful ceremony. As an alumnus of the institution, he pledged his continued support towards its growth and development.


He urged the school management to sustain its commitment to quality education and announced the sponsorship of the university education of the best-performing female graduating student. He also encouraged all graduating students to remain focused on their studies and strive for excellence.


Several other speakers commended the principal for his effective leadership, describing his efforts as instrumental to the school's growth and continued success.


The graduation ceremony featured cultural performances, traditional dances, presentation of awards, and other entertainment activities, adding colour to the celebration.

The Adamawa State Police Command regrets to confirm a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on 3rd June, 2026, at about 1:50 p.m. along the Narehi area of Girei-Song Local Government Areas. Police Public Relation OfficerAdamawa state Command SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje  discloused this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola. The unfortunate incident involved a military Gun truck travelling from Gombi towards Yola and a commercial Hummer bus conveying five (5) passengers from Yola to Mubi. Preliminary findings reveals that both vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, resulting in the commercial bus flipped over and burst into flames. ASUU MODIBBO ADAMA UNIVERSITY BRANCH COMMENCED TWO WEEK WARNING STRIKE.

NSCDC Adamawa State Command Deploys 2,521 Personnel for Easter Festivitie

The State Commandant, Comdt Idris Bande, issued the directive for the massive deployment to provide adequate safety and security for lives and property, as well as to protect all critical national assets and infrastructure within Adamawa State during the Easter period.
