FRSC ADAMAWA SECTOR COMMANDER WARNS MOTORISTS AGAINST OVERLOADING, MIXED LOADING
By Alhassan Haladu Yola.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adamawa State Sector Command, has warned motorists against overloading and unsafe mixed loading, describing the practices as dangerous road safety violations capable of increasing the risk of road traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
SRC AH TUKUR, anipr Sector Public Enlightenment Officer Adamawa state Command disclosed this in a statement made available to Newsmen in Yola.
The Sector Commander, RS3.1 Adamawa State Sector Command, CC Ibrahim A. Sadiq, gave the warning during a live radio enlightenment programme on USAKU FM 90.5, Yola, on Thursday, 29th October 2026. He featured on the station's popular English-language programme, Good Morning Adamawa, as part of the Command's ongoing public enlightenment campaign under the 2026 Ember Months Operations.
Speaking on the operational theme, "Overloading and Mixed Loading: A Dangerous Trend to Avoid," the Sector Commander explained that carrying passengers or goods beyond a vehicle's approved capacity could compromise vehicle stability, reduce braking efficiency, affect tyre performance, and make it more difficult for drivers to maintain proper control of their vehicles.
He further cautioned against the unsafe transportation of passengers alongside goods, noting that such practices could expose occupants to serious injuries in the event of a road traffic crash.
CC Sadiq urged commercial drivers, transport operators, fleet owners, and other motorists to ensure that their vehicles were roadworthy, loads were properly secured, and passenger numbers remained within the approved capacity of their vehicles.
He also called on motorists to avoid excessive speed, dangerous overtaking, distracted driving, and driving while fatigued. He emphasised the importance of using seat belts, conducting routine vehicle checks, and planning journeys properly to ensure safer travel, particularly during the ember months.
The Sector Commander further appealed to members of the public to support the Corps by complying with traffic regulations, cooperating with FRSC personnel during enforcement operations, and reporting dangerous road-use practices to the appropriate authorities.
The radio engagement forms part of the Adamawa Sector Command's sustained efforts to educate the motoring public, promote responsible driving habits, and prevent avoidable road traffic crashes during the 2026 Ember Months Operations.
The Command reiterated the importance of collective responsibility in road safety, urging all road users to prioritise safety over speed and recognise that compliance with traffic regulations is essential to protecting lives and property.
The FRSC Adamawa Sector Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained public enlightenment, effective enforcement, and collaboration with media organisations and other stakeholders to promote safer roads across the state.
