The firm accuses the ministry, its agencies, and Hydro Resources Ltd of negligence, alleging that their actions and inactions triggered the flooding that claimed lives and destroyed property in Fufore and Yola South Local Government Areas. In a letter dated August 13, 2025, and received by the Attorney-General of the Federation on August 14, Desmond S. Adebole & Co. alleged that Hydro Resources Ltd — which they believe was licensed by the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals to operate in Fufore LGA — negligently released a large quantity of water from a dam it constructed during mining activities. The release, which reportedly occurred around 3:00 a.m., is said to have caused massive flooding that devastated several communities in Fufore and Yola South Local Government Areas, destroying property and displacing residents.
